Where do you source your chocolate, and do you believe in social responsibility and sustainability in cocoa procurement?
As artisan chocolatiers, we are constantly striving to source the best quality product with a focus on environmental conscientiousness and organic farming. Our cocoa/chocolate comes from cocoa plantations in South America, Madagascar, Ghana, the Caribbean and Grenada - some is organically grown and certified. To guarantee consistency of the highest-quality product, we make every effort to build a close relationship with our two chocolate manufacturers in Switzerland and France and their cocoa farmers in South America. As a result, we are able to ensure that the chocolate that we use is fairly traded, with as much product as possible certified by the Rainforest Alliance. Ethical trade emphasizes corporate social responsibility, particularly for companies from the Northern Hemisphere trading with partners in the South (suppliers, subcontractors or primary material producers located in these countries). Ethical trade aims to uphold minimal social and environmental conditions, based on recognized international standards such as those set down by the International Labor Organization, which advocates for employee rights like minimum wage and freedom of association. Ethical trade also favours social advancement for employees of these businesses by encouraging and helping to develop optimal working conditions.Do you use any artificial flavours and/or colours in your products?
All of our ingredients are all-natural and of the highest quality. We do not use any artificial flavours or preservatives. Our cocoa butter colours are all FDA approved and some of them are extracted naturally from fruits and vegetables.AW, NUTS!
While we endeavour to maintain quality standards for dairy-, nut- and gluten-free, our products are made on shared equipment that processes wheat, nuts, dairy and eggs.
AW, cherry pits, etc.!
Although every care has been taken to remove all naturally occurring, non-edible food components (e.g. cherry pits or small chicken bones), some may still be present in the product.
